South Korean PC Gaming Rooms Rely on Crypto Mining to Profit During the Coronavirus Pandemic – Mining Bitcoin News

The coronavirus pandemic has hit several entertainment routines of people around the world significantly, and South Korea is no exception. PC game rooms had to be closed in the country, but their owners found a way to make a profit during the lockdown by participating in crypto mining.

A PC Bang owner earned over $ 3,000 worth of Ethereum in two weeks

According to Chosun, the operators of the “PC Bang”, a term commonly used in South Korea for PC gaming rooms, use their computers to take advantage of the pandemic-related restrictions.

In fact, owners have no certainty as to whether or not they will be able to reopen their businesses and that is why crypto mining is now an alternative to deal with now. Some PC owners in Seoul are mining ether (ETH) by relying on highly equipped computers with top-notch graphics cards.

A 34-year-old man named Kim stated that the number of customers had decreased significantly due to the pandemic and that his PC bang could not be sustainable in such a situation. He is currently dismantling ETH with almost 36 computers.

In just two weeks, Kim said she earned over 3.5 million won ($ 3,153) in the context of the peak of winter in the coldest month of the year. The PC-Bang operator praised the current weather conditions, as it saves heating costs by reducing cryptos at the same time.

In addition, Chosun states in South Korea that the electricity service of a PC game room is not charged for home use, but at regular prices.

However, the report states that PC-Pony’s crypto-mining fever may not last too long as graphics card prices continue to rise.

However, some of the operators are confident that the current crypto bull run has no deadline for reopening doors for companies like theirs. Recently, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun stated that although vaccinations have been slower, the government expects to achieve herd immunity by the fall.
