Visa Pilots System to Help Banks Provide Crypto Services Including Buying, Trading, Custody of Bitcoin – Finance Bitcoin News

Visa is testing a new system that banks can use to seamlessly integrate crypto functions. Using Visa’s crypto APIs, banks can offer a range of cryptocurrency services to their customers, including buying, trading and custody of Bitcoin.

  • Visa on Wednesday announced a partnership with First Boulevard, a digitally-based neobank focused on serving the black community. The bank will be the first to pilot Visa’s new suite of crypto APIs.
  • “As part of the first pilot program, Visa plans to enable First Boulevard to connect to the infrastructure of Visa partner Anchorage, a state-chartered digital asset bank, so that its customers can buy and sell Bitcoin,” the payment giant said. The bank’s customers can “buy, hold and trade” Anchorage digital assets. First Boulevard will also introduce a Visa debit card.
  • The development of the crypto API marks the next phase in Visa’s digital currency strategy. The global payment giant said the product will “help additional Visa customers access and integrate crypto features into their product offerings and is expected to be launched later this year.”
  • Jack Forestell, Visa Chief Product Officer, commented, “With this pilot, we want to extend the value of Visa to our neo-bank and financial institution customers by providing an easy bridge to crypto assets and blockchain networks.” He continued: “We wanted to make Visa the bridge between digital currencies and our global network of 70 million merchants. Today we are the leading network for crypto wallets with 35 crypto platforms choosing to issue Visa. “
